Shoulder Surgery

I had surgery on my left shoulder Friday Sep 4th. I don't like hospitals, but Fondren Orthopedic Hospital is quite good. Almost everyone there is friendly and has a "pleaser" attitude, which is very good. A couple of the nurses were only so-so, seeming bored with their lives and not very interested in us patients. But they were better than what I've seen in other hospitals. I think there were only three patients that stayed overnight Friday. Most of their surgeries are day surgery.

The doctor repaired the torn cartilage from the recent injury, smoothed some older cracked cartilage and removed chips and trash in the joint from an older injury, and thinks I’ll be OK. There is an area with no cartilage that could be fixed with a small coated metal plate, but that would be for a later surgery if needed (probably not). I expected quite a bit of pain, but it hasn’t been much of a problem. I credit that to the prayer support I’m getting.

I am sleeping a lot. I’ll work from home tomorrow. Then, maybe Wed I’ll try driving to work if it feels fine. Terri has been wonderful. She has cooked great meals and done my jobs like feeding Sapphire and taking out the trash. She got me started on a big puzzle. She rented two movies for us to watch. Thank you Terri! This is even though she is feeling poorly with a TMJ problem. I love you Terri.

I've discovered that life quickly gets very boring if you can't do much of anything. I'd rather be busy than bored.
